Mentoring
The KARE 4
Kidz mentoring program is designed to
provide positive role models for young
students who are in need of guidance. It is
important that each mentor be dedicated to
the growth and development of mentees. Each
mentor/mentee commitment is solidified with
personal contracts to affirm the commitment
for support.
It is not
necessary that a youth who wishes to
participate be from a one parent or
dysfunctional homes. In many cases, the
youth who participate in our mentor program
are simply looking for career guidance and
support. In these cases, professional
mentors are extremely important in providing
these students with valuable information.
Our mentors
are not expected to be counselors or
caregivers. But, we do expect them to be
good listeners and more importantly, good
caring people. We offer and require a one
hour training course that outlines the
mentoring process and what will be expected
from the mentor and what can be expected
from the mentee.
All mentors
are required to submit a complete criminal
background report and three character
letters of reference. There is also a
mentor questionnaire that asks several
questions about you, your profession, and
your personal interests. This
information will be used to assist us in
pairing mentors with mentees who share
common interests, personalities, and/or
backgrounds. |
