Kommuni-kidz:

The Kommuni-Kidz project is a computer arts program that provides the participating youth with instruction and hands-on experience in web-design. The kids learn to plan, design, launch, and maintain a website. They also get the opportunity to learn computer-aided design by using graphic design programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Dreamweaver.

With the advancements in technology, we feel that it is valuable for all kids to have access and familiarity with computer networks and information technology. Since many of our public schools are low in funding and do not offer kids the opportunity to learn about computer design and web publishing, it is the goal of KARE to give any interested youth a chance to gain knowledge of this rapidly progressing field.

Our program guides kids through the basics of computer-aided design and introduces them to programs like PowerPoint, FrontPage, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and even Flash. All these programs can be used to plan, develop, and publish websites, create artworks, or even generic publications like school fliers. The kids are learning valuable skills and lessons in teamwork, accountability, and problem solving, while exercising their creative minds
