Girls Gone Good

“Because Good Girls do Good Things and have Good Lives.”

Purpose:  To instill pride, accountability, responsibility and self respect in female students by promoting positive, character building activities and behaviors.  This program encourages females feel comfortable in their decisions to do the ‘right’ thing, equip them with tools to deal with peer pressure, and demonstrate the advantages of making sound choices.  By addressing social and occupational ideals, understanding how to properly address conflict and developing an ability to become ‘critical thinkers’, Girls Gone Good promises to have a major impact on its participants.

Target Demographic: Female students, 10-18 years of age; all programs conducted by school counselors, teachers, and/or leaders of community youth programs.

Goal:

  1. To build self esteem, respect and dignity in our female students.
  2. To have each student outline a plan for their lives which will include identifying the hazards of risky behavior, the affect that choices have on their future goals, and a clear path toward reaching their goals.
  3. Empathy and respect for others through community service.
  4. Build a strong ‘sense of self’ by providing examples of female achievements throughout history, the development of women in history, and community role models.

Objective:

  1. Each female participant will build a journal that documents their activities – emotions and ideals about themselves.  Participants should begin to challenge any negative ideals and female gender stereotypes.
  2. Each group of participants should plan and execute a service project that promotes the positive female image, uplifts the female perception, and/or serves a female population.
  3. Each participant Shall have a community mentor/partner that reflects achievement, builds strength, and is an example of hard work and dedication.  Student participants can collaborate with their Girls Gone Good instructor on selecting a volunteer mentor/partner.  Each mentor/partner must sign an agreement with the student.
  4. Each female participant will complete the Girls Gone Good curriculum which includes a series of guided group exercises and individual assignments.
  5. Each member will recruit one new member/legacy upon conclusion of the program to ensure the programs continuation.
